Time to Move On II

I am seated in a cafe and thinking, what does it take for people to love their lives? Why are some people so excited about life while others are not. When asking this question, one would think that there have been no times when I have felt low. The death of my mother was one of the lowest times I experienced. It was a blow because I had put all my trust in life in her. Maybe God saw this would really be of no help and so had to put her away. For a long time, I held on to her presence. At fifteen, I was on the verge of fear that my life would break apart (the fears of a fifteen year old). Life has proven otherwise. In my walk, I have realised that it's really not about the things we see but the things we have not seen that scare us. Probably, I never looked at myself as an accomplished person then. Now, I look back and wonder what brought me this far.

I think of the people in the Bible who had to see their lives progress or destroy themselves in the process of holding on to their past. There are people I know that will simply not let go of their past and will cherish all the lost times as if these will ever come back. Abraham had to make up his mind to leave his father's home and go to a strange land. Joshua had to let go of the fact that Moses had died. Elisha held on to Elijah till the latter left. The guy simply had to move on. There are people who held on to their past. Lot's wife felt that Sodom and Gomorrah offered a better life and she destroyed her destiny in the process. Zechariah held on to his failure to get a child and God had to shut his mouth for him. Sarah doubted the promise and looked at the age she had gone to and looked down at God's power. These are just a few of the men and women who had to either move on or look back.

God has wonderful promises for us if only we shall open our hearts to Him. He promises the best that life can offer if we let Him do His work. All He wants us to do is to let go of our failures and weaknesses and step out into the darkness and believe He will move with us all the way. Peter walked on the water till he doubted that Christ could bring him through with it. This is what happens when we fail to let God take over. We simply fall in the water and it takes God's grace to see us out of it.

Now, holding on to our past is saying God is so weak to help me through it. He however wants us to go over to the other side. Think of the times when you've merely brooded and let Him pass by. All it takes is taking the first step, letting the spirit in you move with Him and going ahead on the journey. It doesn't hurt walking troubled ground. All He's saying is you need to let Him in and move on. Stop brooding. Do something. Wake up and move on today for it's time to move on.

God richly bless you.
