Broken

Whoever has read the poem 'Broken' believes I have been put off in life or that I ahve been disappointed. One told me there is an explaining of the self in the poem. I half agree and half disagree with most people who have been kind enough to comment on the work there.


There is an inner self that explains who we are. Poetry has always been a means for explaining who I am. This is true when most of the work I have written has stared at me and told me 'Boy, you are writing about you.' Poetry has a way it makes me naked before others which can really be scary especially when I know certain things about my feelings should never come out.


Away from that, I will not defend that poem. All I know is that it came freely to my mind. Somebody has the right to explain themselves to others. Whoever reads it and sees the broken man in me or the person that has lost passion for life has wrongly lost it. I is a poem that should be taken for what it is and not a psychoanalysis of the writer.


I am sorry if that was wrong, but I though I could explain myself to all my readers.
