To My Friends

I do not understand it
When you tell me about power,
Not that I love seeing you oppressed
Or even keel to show my authority.
I just fail to see
Why the motherly instinct is killed
To breed young children
That have no bond with you!

I fail to understand
Why when you work
You forget we're partners.
(And in saying this
I appreciate your company and wellbeing)
But for God's sake
Equity and equality divulge
You are bent to the latter.

I hate to see you overpowered
You say I am not your protector
That I can agree with
But please, don't run to me
When another throws away your emotions
And tells you
To get to another's bosom.

I will treat you with respect
Nothing matches that in our company
But please, don't say I stifle
Your independence, pride and esteem
Because you are always
What you want to be
I will stand for and by you.

This is not out of anger
But a wish
That we don't irate each other
But together pull what we have.
I am not masculist
Please spare me your
Feminism
